One thing I love about summer is the opportunity to travel more and take road trips. With Albuquerque being relatively close to so many amazing places, it was hard to choose where to travel this summer. Eventually we decided to visit Salt Lake City, Utah and hit up southwestern Colorado and Moab, Utah along the way. Both states are known for their amazing scenery, so of course I brought my camera along and took full advantage of the beauty.
Our first stop was one of my favorite places- Durango, Colorado. After having lunch in the quaint downtown area, we drove towards Silverton, far enough to see the beautiful Rockies. We arrived in Moab, Utah just in time to set up our tent for the night in a beautiful spot along the Colorado River. I was dying to see the gorgeous vistas at Canyonlands National Park, so we set out for the park and arrived at sunset. The view was breathtaking! That evening back at camp, I experimented with some long exposure photos of the night sky. Out there the sky looks incredible.
The next morning we got up before the sun and did some hiking at Arches National Park. I was blown away by how far the park stretches, and how many interesting rock formations there are to see. Did you know that the park has over 2,000 arches?! We were only able to see a few of the landmarks, but it was still an amazing experience.
Our first day in Salt Lake City, we had the opportunity to take a Sesna flight right over the city with Bountiful Flight. It was truly an amazing experience to see the city, the Great Salt Lake, and the mountains from a bird's eye view. As I was snapping photos in the back seat, my husband got the fly the plane alongside the Wasatch Mountains.
After enjoying the local sights, food, and shopping, we ended our visit with a day of hiking in the Wasatch Mountains. We enjoyed the cool water of Lisa Falls, the slopes of the Snowbird Ski Resort, and finished off the day fishing at Big Cottonwood Canyon. Utah, you are beautiful and I can't wait to come back! Utah brides, call me for your gorgeous weddings! <3
